Simone Achebe started Tide Table after inheriting her grandmother’s collection of Depression-era serving pieces — pale pink platters, a jadeite sugar bowl, pressed-glass relish trays that caught morning light like pale sea glass. Now she sources widely, from Pyrex sets in complete condition to hand-thrown studio pottery from Pacific Northwest artists who never got quite famous enough to be expensive.
