Vintage Needlepoint Vanity Set — Hand Mirror & Brush

A dressing-table set from the era when a vanity was a place you actually sat — a hand mirror and matching brush, each with a panel of hand-worked floral needlepoint sealed under glass on the back. The stitching is remarkably intact: cornflowers, poppies, and forget-me-nots in wools that have barely faded. The Rhyses found it tucked in a Bainbridge cottage’s linen drawer alongside a beaded necklace and a little glass jewelry box. It’s the kind of small, tender object that turns a bathroom counter or a bedroom dresser into something with a bit of ceremony to it.
